Why Tibet
For centuries Tibet has been a mysterious and timeless land, cut off from the rest of the world by the mighty Himalayas. Despite modernisation it has retained the beauties of its past, such as the fascinating Gompas, ancient markets, ever-smiling and fun-loving Tibetans and its amazing turquoise lakes.
We specialise in adventure holidays in Tibet and our trips range from four-day culture tours to four-week mountaineering expeditions – so if you are looking for adventure, you will definitely find it with us!
Most of our treks start or end with visit to Lhasa, which has long been known as the Forbidden City. The mighty Potala Palace, Drepung Monastery, Barkhor market and the holy Jokhang Temple are just a few of the fascinating sights we will take you to.
Our overland trips give you enough time to visit the famous Tashilhump Monastery at Shigatse, the historic town of Gyantse, the old Bon Po Monastery at Sakya and the beautiful lake of Yamdrok Tso.
Treks to Mt. Everest base camp and Shishapangma will certainly be the highlight of your trip. From Everest Base Camp you can enjoy an uninhibited view of the beckoning north face of the top of the world as well as of the amazing Rongbuk Glacier. A visit to the Rongbuk monastery is an essential part of any trip to this area.
Our trip to Mt. Kailash gives you the unforgettable opportunity to circumvent the holy mountain, just to be completed by a visit to the serene Lake Manasarovar.
In Tsethang and Yarlung, the cradle of Tibetan civilisation, you will visit ancient Tibetan monasteries and the tomb of the famous Tibetan king, Songsten Gampo. This area is extremely rich in cultural interest. It is also the home of the world's largest canyon, on the Yarlung Tsang Po River, which later becomes the Brahmaputra, flowing through India and Bangladesh. |
